Lake Turkana Wind Power project is to charge Kenya Power on a monthly basis for failure to distribute and sell power from the wind farm to end users. Efforts by government officials to delay charges have proven futile.
As reported by Construction Review Africa an interministerial committee have been put in place to take care of the stalemate. This was an agreement between the developers and the government that failure to connect the 310 MW wind power farm to the grid would attract charges of overly Kshs. 700 million. The charges will be used to pay investors for expenses incurred as a result of the Electrical energy not being connected to the grid for sale to the customers.
Will this be resolved in time before tax payers lose more of their money?
