The plane is designed for nine passengers and two number pilots. The plane was built by Eviation Startup and to prove that Electric planes are a viable option for commute at altitudes of about 15,000 feet.
Why haven't there been Electric planes already? The answer is as simple as it gets.The Battery weight; to power a 737 with today's batteries you would need to take out everything, literally, and fill up the safe with batteries to be able to fly for just under an hour.
In comparison, jet fuel holds more than 50 times more energy per unit mass compared to batteries.
With the strides being made everyday with batteries development, electric planes are not too far off. Would you fly in an electric plane?
