Kabambe And Katululu leads the market

It seems Kenyans love the katululus and Kabambes of the mobile phone world. In a report released by the Communications Authority of Kenya, Feature phones represents 55.1% of the market share with 32.9 million subscriptions.

The large market share is attributed to their affordability and ease of us, especially in rural, where the network and internet connectivities are poor.

The price campaigns and flexible payment options by the major telco's hasn't helped increase smart phone usage. The report imdicates that smart phone usage stands at 26.8 million with total mobile phone subscriptions standing at 59.7 million.

However, the smart phone market penetration is set to grow further with giant phone companies coming up with budget phones and payment options getting easier to access and much more affordable.
