Lighting Controls - Saving energy

Lighting controls give you the ability to adjust the mood and ambiance in a room and let you create a lighting plan with multiple uses and decorative effects. Controls also allow you to lower your light level to conserve energy and increase bulb life and to match the intensity of the light to your activity. There are a number of new technologies out there that make lighting controls that much more interesting and they help to save a lot of energy and cash in the long run. Today we share with you on what’s available for your choosing to suit your unique needs and help you save on as much energy as possible

Lighting controls

1.Dimmers. You can preset them at a preferred setting level. They will stay at the pre-set level each time you turn the switch on. They also help you to save some energy when you don’t really need a lot of light in a particular area of your home.

2.Slide lighting controls. They work the same way as the other dimmers, but instead of having preset lighting arrangements, you get to take control of exactly how much light you want in the room that you are in.
3.Occupancy sensors automatically switch on indoor lights when they detect a motion and switch them off when the area is not occupied for a specified amount of time. Occupancy sensors controls provide convenience by turning on the lights when someone enters the room and turn off the lights when last person leaves the room resulting in 35-45 percent energy savings.

4.Daylighting is lighting an indoor space with windows and skylights that allow natural light into the building. Electric lighting energy use can be reduced by simply installing fewer electric lights because abundant daylight is present, or by dimming or switching electric lights automatically in response to the presence of daylight, a process known as daylight harvesting. This translates to savings when electrical lighting is dimmed or turned off and is replaced with natural daylight.

Use of Sunlight to light up an office space.
5.Daylight dimming Instead of shutting the lights off when enough daylight triggers the photo sensor, daylight dimming allows lighting to be continuously adjusted in proportion to the amount of sunlight available. Daylight dimming can keep a steady light level while dimming or brightening lighting as daylight increases or decreases. Dimming the lights lowers the electric power demand and reduces the thermal load on a building's cooling system, adding to your energy savings.

5.Time scheduling: Scheduling with time clock controls turns lights on and off, sets lighting levels for different times of day and changes the lighting profile for after-hours mode. More sophisticated systems also respond to signals sent from external control devices such as sensors or switches. Time controls include 24-hour, 7-day calendar and astronomical dial timers. Electronic timers are flexible and multi-functional in controlling many lighting areas. Internal batteries in electronic timers retain the memory settings during power outages. Electric timers can also stagger the restoration of lighting loads to limit power surges.

Go on and pick up a lighting control system that suits your needs and save a shilling or two. You can also view LIGHTING OPTIONS AVAILABLE FOR YOUR CHOOSING. Thank you.
