Solar Water Heating Panel |
In Kenya, the Government came up with the Energy(Solar water heating) act in 2012 in which all premises, commercial and residential, with hot water requirements exceeding 100 litres to install solar water heating system. The Government meant to encourage use of Solar energy by enforcement of the law.
Other than creation of opportunities by creating demand for solar water heaters and the specialists, this will also mean that less power is drawn from the grid for water heating thus enabling Kenya Power to connect more homes and businesses to the grid.
Home and property owners had been given up to 25th May 2017 to incorporate the installations on existing buildings. However, this was extended by another six months which comes to an end next month, October 2017.
Kenya power will not connect power to your premises should you fail to install the solar water heating systems in addition to the fines and jail terms.
