In a statement issued by the corporation, this follows a directive by the newly elected President Ruto that all Port services be reverted back to the port of Mombasa.
The statement quashing the 2018 directive reads in part,
“This is, therefore, to notify all shipping lines that importers’ documentation of place of clearance and mode of transport for their goods shall be at their choice,”
Shippers are happy with the directive stating that rail, road, port, CFSs and ICDs will compete on level ground. We expect the cost to respond to market dynamics as it is a win-win for all.”
