Jumia is set to set to start using drones for their delivery services across Africa.
The E-commerce joint has joined hands with Zipline to pilot the drone deliveries in Africa starting with Ghana. Zipline is a well-established name when it comes to instant deliveries. They will provide their automated, on-demand delivery system to be employed on the already existing jumia distribution network.
In addition to Ghana, the drone delivery services will be available in Nigeria and Cote d'voire before extension to the rest of Africa.
In a test drive, deliveries were made as far as 85km in less than an hour. All parties involved in the delivery cycle were able to monitor in real time the drone movements.
