The Kenya Revenue Authority is putting in place measures to ensure that they monitor in full all the activities of the major Telecommunication companies to ensure there are no incidences of tax evasion.

The tax-man thinks that there might be under declaration of airtime, Internet and mobile money sales thus the need to monitor these activities in real time. KRA will integrate their systems with that of the Telcos hence giving them real time access to these data. KRA intends to compel the companies to submit and make tax payments on the daily.
These system are already integrated with betting firms hence proven to work and to the benefit of the tax man.
However, experts have questioned the capabilities and capacities of such systems to handle daily tax payments. We wait to see.
