With the ever-raging global warming and the subsequent climate change, many designers have sprung into action to come up with various mitigation measures to not only slow down the climate but make life sustainable
A multi-disciplinary team in France has come up with a low-tech, sustainable and affordable cooling device of bamboo. As the temperatures are soaring, needs for Air conditioning units are rising by the day translating to even greater amounts of energy required for cooling purposes in addition to the leaking coolants which leads to even more adverse effects on climate.
The bamboo device forms a hyperboloid shape for structural stability, standing tall as a tower cooling the air through the adiabatic principle using the water's 'freshness'. The cooling process is quite simple; As water evaporates, it needs energy which it absorbs from the heat of the ambient air.
The structure is made up of a grid of poles which transfers water by gravity. Below the structure and at the centre, a blower is installed which absorbs hot air from above crossing through the water twice cooling it in the process.
